Memory Upgrade for Dell Dimension 8200?

I have a Dell Dimension 8200 P4 2.4Ghz machine. I have tried different Rambus PC800 memory, none seem to work on the machine, it shows me an error while booting saying incorrect memory detected, is there any specific type of memory I need for this machine?

Dell Dimension 8200P4 with the processor speed 2.4Ghz takes PC80040ns memory. PC800 ECC/non-ECC RDRAM RIMMs are recommended for this sytem. You need to be careful that you install your memory in matching pairs and check if you have ECC or NON-ECC memory.EC is used for home use where as non-ECC for server use. you can refer to the below link

How to set the Sim card on Dell Inspiron 1464 ?

in my Dell inspiron 1464 ,there is a blank space for Sim card below the battery .But it doesn't suit my Sim card. the space is larger then Sim should i buy any adapter or how can i fix this problem? Is that made for internet browse through Sim ?

"Installing a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card allows you to browse the Internet, check e-mail, and connect to a Virtual Private Network. To access the Internet, you must be within the network of your cellular service provider.
NOTE: Installing a SIM card is not required if you are using an EVDO card to access the Internet."

You need to visit your cellular provider to get a card that fits.

I want to upgrade my 256 RAM to 2gb RAM. When removing the old from the laptop will i lose any information?

I have a dell inspiron 6000 with 256 RAM- i have purchased dell certified 2GB that is compatible. I know i need to remove the 256 to fit the 2GB.

Nope. RAM isn't used for permanent information storage. Your hard drive does that, and since you're not doing anything with the hard drive right now, there's no worries about your data. Go ahead with your RAM upgrade (remove the old stuff, put in the new stuff). Your data will be fine.

Older sever, need to know it's architecture?

I have and older server, unknown brand. "Intel Serverboard G7ESZ". 2x 1.0Ghz processors, 5 Scsi Hot Swap HD,s "RAID 5" controlor... yada yada...

I need to know it's architecture...X86? i-386 i686 X-86/64? I am certain it is not an AMD
Intel no longer supports this in their archives.

I also would like to know what (if any) LINUX server Distro will work with this...

(Has two Socket 370 sockets on the mobo. Uses Intel Pentium III processors with a 133MHz FrontSideBus.
Will support Pentium III's with a frequency speed from 667MHz to 1024MHz. (1GB)
Supports up to 4GB's of SDR Sdram at 133MHz that's Error Correction Code ram. (Slower ram for servers, because it checks itself every other clock tick.) Probably PC133 ram that's ECC.

Just an example above. Not sure if the voltage, ram timings, and chip configuration is correct. Probably is though. Pretty cheap stuff, huh? This is only 256MB's! Your mobo has four ram slots with a maximum of 1GB each. Hmmmm.

no sound on Dell Latitude D620 'needs PCI "Where can I find the driver?

I went to Dell's website downloaded the chipset driver & audio driver and keep getting Error 40 for audio driver n is the system does not support the chipset driver pls help thx

Check the driver is not disabled, it may have inadvertently disabled itself during shutdown: Go to Device Manager (Start> right-click My Computer> Properties> Hardware tab> Device Manager) and right click on your sound driver and choose enable. If not, try updating the driver, that effectively restores it to factory settings if there is an update available. If you do not know the name of you Sound Driver, so to Start> Run> dxdiag. Now go to Audio tab and any installed sound card is listed. If it still does not work, the driver can be uninstalled. If so, go to your computer manufacturer's website and go to "Support" section. There should be a link for drivers. You must know your computer model, but when you enter it gives you a chance to download the missing drivers. Just find the Sound Driver and install it. Hope that helps =]

How do I change my power supply on my Dell XPS Gen 4?

I can not for the life of me figure out how to supply the power, what I miss? I can not find any screws holding it on but of course there must be. Does anyone know anything about the Dell XPS Gen 4's?

Hi, You must first connect all the cables on the power supply inside the computer when you do this, fix your computer if you have not already, and look at the back of the computer case around where PSU is located. You'll find a bunch of four screws usually around the edges of the PSU, just unscrew them and your PSU should be free, you can also shoot PSU or give it a pull. You may also need to look inside the case and take the opposite side panel and check if the internal screws inside the casing and PSU are inplace.

I currently have two Seagate ST373307LC Scsi Hard Drives, one of which has gone down. Seeing as I am replacing one of the disks I figured I may aswell take the opportunity to upgrade to a larger capacity (Will do it one at a time though to avoid any down time.

The disks I have at the moment are…

Capacity: 73GB
Spindle Speed: 10,000RPM

That depends on how you have RAID set up. Normally you have two HD's of the same speed and capacity.

In one RAID state the HD's are seen as one big HD, in another the same data is written to the different HD's, creating a backup of your data.

Another is "striping" where part of the data is written to the first HD, and part to the second. That is when you need two drives of the same capacity.
