Not supported wireless adapter with the Intel PROSet / Wireless?

Dell Support installation on my Inspiron 6400 recommended an update of my Intel Pro / Wireless 3945 network card. I followed the download instructions, but then could not use wifi with this device. But I can connect to the Internet when Windows manages my wifi connection. I want to continue using the Intel Pro to manage WiFi, but now when I click on this icon for Intel Pro box will posted a message saying "No supported wireless adapters available in the system" and all links are grayed out and not be selectable. How can I'm back to be able to use Intel Pro to manage my wifi connections? (I've gone in and unchecked the box in network connections that tells Windows to manage connections, but even then I can not use the Intel Pro.)

The same thing happened to me. This solved my problem: 1) Went to remove the Intel (R) PROSet / Wireless Software via the Control Panel "Add / Remove Programs" 2) Selected repair option rather than delete 3) fixed the problem in less than 1 minute

How Do I upgrade my processor to i7?

i have no idea how to do this upgrade thing. but how do i know if i can upgrade my processor? my processor is Inte(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU E2220 @ 2.40GHz. dont i open my hard drive or something to upgrade my processor? and what is a motherboard? computer experts please help! Don't listen to these guys. Buy an i7 processor and install it. Sometimes they don't want to go in, so smack it with a hammer if it doesn't want to fit.

I am looking for information on to upgrade a Compaq Presario 2190US Notebook computer.?

Processor: 2.4GHz Mobile Intel Celeron

Hi,

I own a Compaq Presario 2190US, and I've opened up this notebook more than three times, and I have physically removed the Socket 478 processor that is in there. Your best bet is to find another Socket 478 processor such as an Intel Celeron M, Pentium 4-M, or a Pentium M (Centrino) processor. For the Pentium M processor, only the Banias-core will work, since it was originally offered in Socket 478; the newer Dothan-core fits in a Socket 479. For the Banias-core Pentium M processor, the range of processors available are 1.3 to 1.7 GHz. Now don't be deterred by the low processor speed when compared to the current 2.4 GHz processor; a Pentium M 1.6 GHz processor can match the performance of a 2.4 GHz processor. Crazy, but the Pentium M is more efficient per clock cycle than an Intel Pentium 4 or Celeron processor that was out at that time. It may prove a bit difficult to find a Banias-core, but your best bets are through eBay.

Yes, you'll have to do a BIOS upgrade to the latest possible version, I'd suggest you do this even if you don't have your processor on hand; I've done the BIOS upgrade about two years ago, and I've had no problems whatsoever, your mileage may vary, however. Download it and save it to the Desktop, and then before running it, make sure that you are not working on any documents or any applications are open. Then double click the downloaded executable, click Start (or whatever button there is to start the BIOS flash) and this process may take a few minutes to do. Restart when prompted.

what is the purpose of dual ethernet ports?

i noticed my mac pro at work has two gigabit ethernet ports, but only one is connected to the network. what is the other one for?

The computer can be used as a router. (You can also dual-home it, but most dual-homed servers run Linux, not Mac OS.)

Running 2 internet connections on one computer at the same time is pretty silly, because all you're doing is splitting the path. If your connection is so fast that you can actually get faster thruput from that, you want better hardware than a Mac.

(Running one to the network and one to the internet is called "being a router".)

Is there any Quad (Intel) Socket motherboard?

I was looking for a Quad Socket Mobo, but only I find is AMD socket, and I wish Xeon (or any Intel).
I gave up googleing. Does it exist? Thanks!

Since dual and quad core CPUs became so common, finding dual and quad socket boards has become very rare.

They're essentially only found in purpose built server motherboards and are very expensive (for Xeons).

Intel's new Core i7 CPU has 8 logical cores in 1 CPU. Very fast.

Multi CPU systems don't make a lot of sense these days since hard drive speed and memory speeds are a bigger bottleneck in most cases.

People looking for huge speed typically buy several multi core computers and setup a compute cluster.

Pentium Iii Processor

My current pc has a pentium III processor that runs at 667MHz, I wish to replace this with a faster processor?

I am looking to upgrade to at least 1.4GHz and I need to know if I need to replace my motherboard as well. I am running Windows XP and have 198MB RAM but will be upgrading this too. I have a 80GB hard drive master and 16GB slave. I need to know what I need to do to upgrade the processor.

If you can tolerate 1.13 GHz lieu of 1.4GHz, they are going for about 20 bucks on Ebay. I am pretty sure your current processor is a "Slot 1", but if i'm wrong, then you have a "socket 370". You'll need to know this for sure before you buy a P3 replacement.

Well, the motherboard you are using is an AMD motherboard, using the 939 socket type. Only Socket 939 CPU's will physically fit in the motherboard.
